Maury County Parks and Recreation (MCP&R) strives to provide recreational and educational opportunities, services and programs to expand our community involvement, create a higher standard of living and to enrich and enhance the lives of our citizens.
MCP&R manages five parks: Maury County Park, Chickasaw Trace Park, Williams Spring Park, Jerry Erwin Park and Hampshire Park.
MCP&R partners with many diverse groups to provide the unique recreational opportunities and facilities available in our parks. Many of our annual evnts are the rusult of these partnerships, such as the Train Stop Storytelling Festival (Delta Kappa Gamma), the Lungs of Steel 5k (Columbia State Community College), the Jailbreak Triathlon (Columbia Cycling Club), Arts in the Park (Arts in Action) and many others.
In addition, the Master Gardeners Club does plantings, helps with special projects and maintains the beautiful flowerbeds in almost all our parks, year-round. Columbia Cycling Club maintains the excellent mountain bike trails at Chickasaw Trace Park. Mid-South Live Steamers has their meets in Maury County Park, gives free rides to the public on special days during those meets, and maintains the miniature tracks and depot. MCP&R is grateful to these and many other partners who give selflessly of their time to keep our parks beautiful and in top-shape!
