Inmate Property
Inmates are allowed to receive property once a month.  Property day is on the second (2nd) Thursday of each month.  Property deliveries are only accepted between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.  Any property brought after 4:00 pm will not be accepted.

Inmates newly booked into the jail have 5 days from the date of incarceration to receive property.  After 5 days, property will not be received until the next scheduled property day.

All clothing items are to have the inmates named placed on them with permanent marker so the property will not be lost in the laundry.

Inmate Mail

All mail will be distributed once a day to inmates. All incoming mail will be opened and checked for contraband. All legal mail will be opened in front of the inmate. Mail from one area of the jail to another area will not be allowed and mail from another correctional facility will no longer be accepted.

Inmates who are indigent and unable to buy stamps are entitled to two (2) free stamps per week.  Free stamps will only be issued to indigent inmates. If inmate wants to be on free stamp list, they will need to fill out an Indigent Form.  Inmates can get the form from the Shift Sergeant or Correctional Officer.  If inmate receives stamps on property day, they will be taken off the Free Stamp list for that month.

Items considered contraband, and that will be rejected, include, but not necessarily limited to, the following:

Personal checks or cash

U.S. Stamps or stickers.

Stationery/envelopes/color paper/card stock/sketch paper/coloring books/coloring pages.

Blank greeting cards, stationery or other blank paper will not be accepted.

Magazines and newspapers.

Greeting cards larger than 5x8, or that are padded, musical, or laminated. Cards with non-paper parts will not be accepted (rhinestones, string, foam, glitter, etc.) 

Printouts from the internet that includes Facebook, MySpace, etc. No copies of text messages or emails allowed.

Non-paper material. No items can be glued, taped, stapled, laminated or otherwise affixed to a page.

Food or clothing items.

Foreign and/or unidentifiable substances.

Pictures no larger than 4x6. Only 2 pictures per day. Obscene or sexually explicit material, nude or semi-nude photos will not be accepted. Polaroid photographs will not be permitted. Pictures with alcoholic beverages will not be accepted.

Threats of physical harm against any person or threats of criminal activity.

Threats of blackmail or extortion.

Plans to escape, or material that depicts or describes blueprints or operational details of the facility or of any correctional facility.

Information that, if communicated, would create a risk of violence and/or physical harm to any person.

No bodily fluids (lipstick) or perfume spray

Material that threatens or is detrimental to the good order or discipline of the facility.

Plans for activities in violation of facility rules, or for criminal activity.

Correspondence that is in code.

Gang-related material.

Inflammatory material or markings (advocating ridicule or scorn of any ethnic, racial, religious, or other group).


INTRODUCING CONTRABAND INTO A CORRECTIONAL FACILITY (through the mail or by any other means) IS A FELONY. Such activity, or suspected activity, will be investigated for criminal prosecution.


All incoming mail intended for an inmate should be addressed like the following:
