To become a notary public an application must be filed with the County Clerk's office along with a $10,000 notary bond, which may be obtained from most insurance companies. The name on the bond must match exactly the name on the application.
The application must be completed in person at the Clerk's office.
The application fee for a new notary is $42 which includes the seal.
Notary's must be renewed every 4 years. A new notary application must be completed and a new $10,000 bond must be submitted to the Clerk's office for a renewal.
The renewal fee is $14.
Notary applications go before the County Commission for approval. Applications must be received in the Clerk's office by the last business day of the month to be heard in the following month's Commission meeting. The Commission meets on the third Monday of each month.
