| FAQ's - Frequently Asked Questions: Q: What are the upcoming events for Maury County Parks? A: We have lots of events throughout the year and the Friends of Maury County Parks has a seasonal newsletter detailing what we have coming up in our parks. You may view the current newsletter or browse past newsletters by clicking on the links below: **NEW** Spring/Summer 2012 Newsletter
Q: Why should my group contact the Maury County Parks and Recreation Department prior to our event? A: We want you to have the best possible experience! We can reschedule mowing, lawn/pavilion maintenance that can sometimes interfere with park enjoyment. It also prevents conflicts with other groups.
Q: We want to get married in the park - what should we do? A: Our parks are beautiful places for weddings, especially the cabin at Chickasaw Trace Park! All our pavilions and buildings, including the cabin have access to electricity, water and grills. By coordinating your wedding plans with Sonjalyn Dickson Rine, Recreation Specialist, you may rest assured that your special day will be a fantastic experience! Please call (931) 375-6103 or email at srine@maurycounty-tn.gov for more details.
Q: Why do we have to pay $30.00 for a pavilion/shelter reservation? Why can't we just show up? A: You pay the $30.00 reservation fee for just that - a reservation. This ensures that the pavilion is reserved for your use. You are welcome to try to use the pavilions without a reservation, but if it is reserved then you will be asked to vacate it.
Q: What is the refund policy? A: All fees are non-refundable.
Q: What is the cleaning deposit and is it refundable? A: The cleaning deposit of $50.00 is paid at the time the fee is paid for the reservation of the Chickasaw cabin, Baker Building or Exhibit Building. This deposit is refundable and will be refunded after the event when the key is returned, so long as the facilities are free of trash, debris and damage.
Q: Are schools required to reserve the athletic fields? A: Yes. It is important that the Parks Office know about any scheduled games and practices PRIOR TO the beginning of the season. Preferably, the game and practice schedules should be submitted with the Event Proposal.
Q: How do we reserve the Pavilions/Shelters? A: Check the availability of these facilities by calling Michelle at (931) 375-6102 or by email at mkenley@maurycounty-tn.gov. You must come to the Parks Office in Maury County Park to reserve the pavilion in person.
Q: How do we reserve the Baker and/or Exhibit Buildings? The cabin at Chickasaw? A: First, call (931) 375-6101 to check the availability. Second, depending on the facility and the event, the paperwork process will begin. Any questions or concerns can be addressed at this stage with Michelle at (931) 375-6102 or mkenley@maurycounty-tn.gov or with Sonjalyn Dickson Rine at (931) 375-6103 or srine@maurycounty-tn.gov. Every effort is made to work smoothly and efficiently with each and every group.
Q: Why can't you hold the facility for me when I call over the phone? A: All park facilities are reserved on a first come, first serve basis. We cannot hold facilities because it wouldn't be fair to those who take the time to follow the rules and personally come to our Park Office to make a reservation.
Q: Can I use a metal detector in the parks? A: Metal detectors may be used in every park EXCEPT Jerry Erwin in Spring Hill because it is a historic park.
Q: Where can I use my remote-controlled flyer? A: The ONLY park where remote-controlled flyers may be used is in the field at Chickasaw Trace Park. See our Maps & Photos page to see a flyer in action!
Q: How can I volunteer for Maury County Park? A: We love volunteers! The best way is to contact the Friends of Maury County Parks on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Friends-of-Maury-County-Parks/225990472177 and ask to help out.
