Text Box: The Sheriff’s Department Transport Unit is responsible for all movement of inmates at the Maury County Jail, to any other locations that the inmate may need to travel to.  This includes but is not limited to, transportation to the courts, doctors visits, etc. The personnel that comprise the Transportation Unit are trained in the same manner and alongside the personnel of the Corrections Unit. The Transport Unit is headed by a Lieutenant who works hand in hand with the Jail Administrator and is responsible for the transport personnel, and the safety of each inmate that is transported.  The Transport Lieutenant is also responsible for all extradition arrangements within the state and those outside of Tennessee as well.  These responsibilities include transporting inmates to other jurisdictions or making arrangements for other law enforcement agencies to pick inmates up at the Maury County Jail.
