Animal Control
The Animal Control Division of Maury County Animal Services responds to animal-related calls and complaints throughout Maury County. The Animal Control office is located at the Maury County/ Columbia Animal Services Center at 1233 Mapleash Ave. in Columbia, Tennessee. Animal Control is under the supervision of the Animal Services Director and employs four full time Animal Control Officers. ACOs receive formal, specialized training in animal behavior and handling, cruelty investigations, humane animal euthanasia, disaster response, and other related areas.
Animal Control Officers respond to calls in the field regarding animal cruelty/neglect, animal bites, dangerous dogs, injured animals, dogs running at large, and strays. Routine animal control services calls, such as dogs running at large, are handled seven days a week, between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm. If you reach the animal control office voicemail during these hours, please leave a detailed message that includes your name, address, phone number, and reason for your call and an ACO will respond as soon as possible.
Calls and complaints pertaining to livestock should be directed to the Maury County Sheriff’s Department, or reported to the Tennessee Department of Agriculture .
If you have an animal-related problem after hours or on holidays, please contact the Maury County Sheriff’s Department dispatch, or your local law enforcement agency. The Animal Control Division has ACOs on call for after hours animal- related emergencies. Please note, ACOs do not respond to calls pertaining to animals running at large, strays, barking dogs, or owner surrenders after hours. These calls are handled the following business day. Please call 911 immediately for any emergency involving serious injuries or death.

Animal control is available 7 days a week 6 A.M.- 5 P.M. Emergency Animal Control Services are provided 24 hours a day 365 days a year including holidays. For after hour emergencies contact Maury County Sheriffs Office at 931-388-5151 or E-COMM 911 at 931-388-2727 choosing Option 1 for Dispatch.
