Adoption Information

Adoptions

Adoptable dogs and cats are made available to the public after their required three business day holding period is over, and they have been spayed/ neutered and received all applicable vaccinations. All animals adopted from MCAS are spayed/ neutered at our in-house veterinary clinic prior to adoption. Anyone interested in adopting a shelter pet is encouraged to contact the Adoption Center to find their new furry family member. A brief questionnaire is required prior to adopting a shelter pet. The Adoption Center is available to the public by appointment seven days a week, between 12:00 am and 5:00 pm. Special appointment times may be available on a case-by-case basis.

The adoption fee for dogs is $75.00. The fee for cats is $50.00. Fees are subject to change for special adoption events.

Adoption fees include spay/ neuter surgery, all applicable vaccinations, deworming, flea/ tick preventative, and heartworm testing for dogs. Microchipping is also available.

Foster Program

Under some circumstances, shelter pets can benefit from living in a foster home prior to adoption. This is often the case with small puppies and kittens, nursing mothers with babies, or pets that are being treated by the shelter veterinary team for illnesses or injuries. Fostering can improve the health and quality of life for shelter pets while they await their forever home. If you are interested in becoming a shelter pet foster parent, please contact our Medical Team at 931-375-1405. An application is required prior to fostering a shelter pet.

Rescues

MCAS is happy to work with rescue partners to find homes for our shelter pets. If you are a 501(c)(3) rescue organization and are interested in partnering with our shelter, or you are interested in a specific pet in our care, please contact Director Katilyn Stewart, LVMT at kstewart@maurycounty-tn.gov.
