To become a notary public, first secure a $10,000 notary bond from any insurance company of your choice. Bring the bond and your driver's license to the clerk's office to complete an application.  Fee is $47.00 for new notary, which includes the cost of commission and notary stamp (without stamp is $19.00). To renew a notary, the fee is $19, with no stamp included.  Applications may be submitted between the first day and the last day of each month. The legislative body approves the notary applications at their monthly meeting on the third Monday of the month, following the month of submission.

Notarization of simple documents (such as permission slips, insurance documents, address verification, etc.) are available in the clerk's office for the public.  We are unable to notarize wills.  Documents must be signed in the presence of the notary and proof of identification is required. The cost is $5.00 for each notarization.
